Kobo Glo Review

I am so excited that the Kobo Glo comes with a built-in reading light!

Here are some specs:

With dimensions measuring 4.5 x 6.2 x 0.39 (113.9mm by 157.4mm by 10mm), the Kobo Glo weighs 6.5 ounces (185 grams). It has a 1GHZ processor with builtin Wi-Fi connectivity and a micro USB which is really nice for managing files.

As with most Kobo models, there are a variety of choices when it comes to the color including blue moon, silver star, pink sunset and black night and of course, the Kobo Glo comes in a signature soft quilted back.

The Kobo Glo has a 6 inch E-ink XGA pearl screen with a 1024 x 768 resolution and a 16 level gray scale display. It’s truly crisp and clear and I really am loving the fingerprint-resistance screen! The new built in light is an awesome feature that I really need to use more. This particular device has been on the go with me since I got it and I usually find myself reading during the day so I haven’t had to use the light much. It is nice, however, to know it is there when I need it and no batteries required! A little more about the light: It uses ComfortLight technology and that is a good name for it. It makes reading with the light sooo comfortable on my eyes and there is virtually zero glare. Love it!

When I charge the Kobo Glo to its full battery life, I could get over a month of use, provided my Wi-Fi and light has been turned off. But that is assuming an hour a day of reading. I read a couple hours at a time (and usually every day). I went almost three weeks before I had to charge it. With the light on, the specs say I will get about 55 hours of use but I have not confirmed this since I rarely have had to use the light on this device.

The Kobo Glo comes with in-built storage capacity of 2 gigabytes but it can be expand to 32 with a micro SD card. As an example, I can store over 1000 books without any storage upgrade. With the upgrade to 32 MB, it can hold a staggering 30,000. This Kobo model holds lots of books!

As far as supported languages, Kobo calls this device a “truly international eReader.” It supports English, French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, Japanese, and Portuguese. Of course, it supports existing Kobo accounts so I didn’t need to reregister to use this device.

There is a standard one-year warranty with optional upgrades.

The Kobo Glo is a nice little ereader. Its builtin WiFi and usb connection are wonderful, its screen is clear and very easy on the eyes. I love the light and the battery lasts a surprisingly long time. Very happy with my Kobo Glo!
