Dead Hunger: The Flex Sheridan Chronicle by Eric A. Shelman

Dead Hunger: The Flex Sheridan Chronicle by Eric A. Shelman Book I of the Dead Hunger series

Anyone who follows my blog knows I am a BIG fan of zombie books. I read a lot of them so it takes something special to stand out from the crowd. And Dead Hunger: The Flex Sheridan Chronicle by Eric A. Shelman is a definite shining star in my collection. I was so excited to find out that this is just Book I of the Dead Hunger series so I get to read a lot more of this one-of-a-kind zombie tale in Books II, III and IV.

The story centers around a really likable guy named Flex who is trying his best to take care of his niece and (hopefully!) find a cure for his infected younger sister in the midst of a horrific zombie apocalypse.

From the totally unique way the zombies came to be, to the touching relationship between the main character and his sister, this book really surprised me. It made me laugh out loud, tear up and really root for (and care about!) the people in this story. It’s amazing to me that a horror novel can offer up so much! Yes, it’s a fast-paced horror tale with lots of delightful zombie gore, but it also has touching moments and personal connections that completely set it apart.

Dead Hunger: The Flex Sheridan Chronicle has everything I look for in a horror novel: page-turning suspense, people I care enough about to invest in, unexpected twists and, of course, some squirm-inducing ick. I found all that and more in this book. I want to thank the author for such a great read!
